Empty Nest Syndrome

Empty Nest Syndrome

Every year thousands of teenagers leave home either going to university and to travel abroad, maybe just moving out of home.

Being a parent has always been one of the most hectic and all-consuming parts of many people’s lives. For the past 18 or more years, you will have been busy everyday and sometimes throughout the night. Dealing with every stage that childhood brings, from a child’s sleepless night to supporting your teenager through the busy exam periods.

With all the excitement of the teenager preparing to move into new accommodation, often to a new region of the country, many parents are underprepared for the sudden quiet and emptiness that many experience.

Empty Nest Syndrome is a form of loss or bereavement. Many times this loss may trigger emotions or loss that may have been felt in the past but have remained unresolved.

Hypnotherapy can help with Empty Nest Syndrome. Recognising each stage as a normal and necessary part of letting go. Hypnotherapy can help you recognise that this is an exciting time in your life, not just for your child but for you too.

Hypnotherapy can give you tools that will make that transition easier and help you focus on your future either as a couple or singleton. Helping you to remember hobbies or ambitions that were put to one side as you focused fully on your child.
